With the help of friends, advocates, and subscribers we've just funded and completed important software development as we prepare to launch vastly improved web and mobile versions of the civic/social network:
Civic Works -where we are the product, not our subscribers:
Because we do not sell or share subscriber data with anyone. Period.
The best way to help the civ.works effort is through additional visibility (news/media contacts, entertainers, influencers), and through donations large and small. If you are in a position to help us, Stripe is our secure donation processing platform: https://buy.stripe.com/00gg04bBZd0V2L69AC
A critical piece of social network platform development is content moderation. As a civic/social network we need to facilitate virtual conversations across an array of diverse perspectives leading to greater understanding, collaboration, and outcomes that can be codified in civic action, policy, and legislation. Therefore it is vital for us to proactively address bad actors, trolls, and bots common to current platforms like Facebook and the former Twitter in order to provide a positive experience for our subscribers. Our development team has now successfully integrated leading content moderation technology into our web and mobile platforms.
The developers have also promoted the following features into our pilot products:
A very early version of a Subscriber Activity Dashboard is now available -this provides feedback to our subscribers on their "Civic Score" -as well as their interactions with the web and mobile civ.works platform. This is the foundation for gamification on civ.works as we encourage people to interact, invite and connect with their friends, and complete meaningful civic, economic, educational, and political actions of local, State, regional, national and/or global scope.
A new, simple method to help preserve social connections when subscribers migrate from Facebook, the former Twitter, and other platforms to civ.works.
The next phase of development has begun and is scheduled to complete over the next few weeks. It includes:
The use of biometrics for login on Apple mobile devices (instead of having to enter username and password).
Subscriber customizable content feed.
A powerful new civic action distribution system.
Easy methods to manage your subscription and become a validated subscriber (the sought after “green checkmark).
In other news:
Fair Observer published an article about us: https://www.fairobserver.com/world-news/revolutionary-civic-social-media-is-on-the-horizon/.
We're continuing to work closely with Canada's terrific PlaceSpeak.com team on a merged civic/social platform as per our joint agreement (we are both committed to subscriber privacy and to not sell or share our subscribers information to anyone).
The London School of Economics continue to support our efforts through graduate program micro-internships. Our most recent grad intern provided incredibly helpful analysis on gamification and the application of AI to facilitate transpartisan agreements on the social.civ.works platform.
Once again -the best way to help the civ.works effort as we go up against Facebook and the former Twitter is through additional visibility (news/media contacts, entertainers, influencers), and through donations large and small.
